- must hold a bachelor's degree with first-class honors or an equivalent degree
- have applied or enrolled in a full-time Ph.D. program in one of the partner universities
- have support from a Data61 supervisor for your research proposal and to apply
- be free to assign the intellectual property developed within the Ph.D. program to Data61
