The Swansea University has initiated Fully Funded EPSRC and Johnson Matthey Ph.D. International Awards 2021 for all students to focus on the research of 'ATOMIC IMAGING OF NANOPARTICLE CATALYSTS DURING OPERATION'.
Project description: This project is a collaboration between the Nanomaterials Lab at Swansea University, which covers physics, chemistry and engineering on the nanometre-scale, and the Johnson Matthey Technology Centre through their aberration-corrected electron microscopy facility located at the DIAMOND Light Source at Harwell near Oxford. The new transmission electron microscope (TEM) enables atomic-resolution imaging of individual nanoparticle catalysts during the process of a chemical reaction inside a cell located in the heart of the microscope.
Eligibility criteria for Fully Funded EPSRC and Johnson Matthey PhD International Awards 2021:
- Candidates should hold a minimum of an upper second class (2:1) honours degree and/or a master's degree (or its equivalent) in physics, chemistry or engineering.
- Candidates must demonstrate good computational/numerical capabilities for image processing and modelling are required.
- Candidates must demonstrate academic and English Language requirements (IELTS 6.5 overall with 5.5+ in each component) to be met by point of application.
