DTU PhD scholarship in Chemistry 2022

Responsibilities and qualifications:

• In this project, NMR methods that were developed for medical purposes will be compounded to detect solvent effects on catalyst-substrate interactions, the ensuing conversion pathways, and on their branch points.
• Your work will strengthen the ambitions to accelerate the detection of sustainable chemical or biochemical approaches through the development of advanced analytics using state of the art high-field and hyperpolarized NMR spectroscopy.
• The aim is to facilitate new processes through rational selection of suitable solvents, based upon their underlying effects on the (bio)chemistry and speed of the transformations. You will work with nearby colleagues, and with academic partners at the Imperial College in London.
• The interdisciplinary nature of the project makes it a prerequisite that you have a broad interest in the application of physical methods for the study of (bio)chemical function.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicant must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.
• Should have a degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or biophysics. Basic experience with experimental organic chemistry, biotechnology, NMR, statistical metabolomics methods, or data base programming would be an advantage.
• Candidate must be able to work independently, but also participate in collaborations, strive toward scientific excellence, be highly motivated, ambitious, and hard-working. Good communication skills in written and spoken English are required.
