Overview

Westpac Future Leaders Scholarships, 2026 are open to candidates with the potential to make a difference to Australia's future in one of our three focus areas:

  • Sustainability, technology, and innovation
  • Strengthening Australia-Asia ties
  • Enabling positive social change

The scholarship is worth up to AUD 120,000 towards research/coursework studies for about 2-3 years duration.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
  • Applicants must complete their first undergraduate degree by 31 December 2026.
  • Applicants must have achieved an average result of H1 or H2A equivalent or approx 75 WAM.
  • Applicants must have chosen to undertake a full-time Master's by coursework or research or a PhD at one of the participating university partners.
  • Applicants must commence study in 2026.
  • Applicants must study in an area that will contribute to the future of Australia in one of the Trust's priority funding areas.
  • Applicants must be able to attend the National Selection Panel to be held in Sydney on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 November.
  • Be able to attend the Future Leaders Scholars Leadership Development Program in Sydney in mid-February and another date, to be confirmed, in 14 - 18 February 2027.
  • Applicants must be able to attend the Westpac Scholars Summit 27 - 29 April 2027.

Application Process:

  • All eligible candidates must complete an online assessment sent to the host university along with the completed application.
  • The application should include two letters of reference.
  • The university's selection panel will shortlist the candidates.
  • Finalists will be invited to attend the National Assessment Centre in Sydney to be interviewed by a National Selection Panel.

Value of the Scholarship:

The successful candidates are awarded a sum of up to AUD 120,000 towards the tuition and living expenses.
