    The largest accounting firms, together with the AICPA Foundation, established the Accounting Doctoral Scholars Program in 2008 to push for more accounting academics with practical expertise in audit and tax. By supporting the ADS Program financially and inspiring people of their companies to think about joining the accounting faculty, the 122 initial sponsors are dedicated to reducing the scarcity of accounting professors.

    Eligibility for Accounting Doctoral Scholars Program:

    • CPA necessary
    • A minimum of three years of expertise in professional accounting is required of the applicant. At the time of enrollment, some of that experience had occurred during the previous three years.
    • The ideal candidate should be a citizen of the USA or a lawful permanent resident (holder of a green card).
    • The applicant should have a GMAT score of 650 or better, or an equivalent GRE score (must be less than 5 years old). The candidate should have an accounting undergraduate or master's degree.
    • The student should intend to apply to universities that participate in ADS to pursue a Ph.D. in accounting with a focus on systems, audit, tax, management accounting, or financial analytics.
    • After graduation, candidates commit to teaching and doing research in the areas of audit, tax, management accounting, systems, and financial analytics at a U.S. university with AACSB accreditation.
