NHS Learning Support Fund at University of Essex 2024

For students enrolled in healthcare programs beginning in the academic year 2024–2025, the government will offer additional financial help. Applications for increased funding will also be accepted from students enrolled in qualified courses beginning in their second or third year.

Eligibility Criteria:

To apply, candidates must be enrolled in one of the following pre-registration undergraduate or graduate courses starting in September 2023:

• Dental therapy or dental hygiene (level 5 and 6 courses)
• Dietetics
• Midwifery
• Nursing (adult, child, mental health, learning disability, joint nursing, and social work)
• Occupational therapy
• Operating department practitioner (level 5 and 6 courses)
• Orthoptics
• Orthotics and prosthetics
• Paramedics (DipHE and FD courses are not eligible for NHS LSF)
• Physiotherapy
• Podiatry or chiropody
• Radiography (diagnostic and therapeutic)
• Speech and language therapy

Value of the Scholarship:

• A £5,000 annual Training Grant for all qualified students
• £2,000 in parental support (formerly known as child dependant allowance) is awarded to students with at least one dependent child under the age of fifteen or under the age of seventeen if they are registered for special education services.
• Reimbursement of overages for travel and lodging expenses (Travel and Dual Accommodation Expenses) incurred during the practice placement
• Pupils who are having financial difficulties will get exceptional Support Funds.

Additional funding for shortage groups:

Prioritizing shortfall groups essential to implementing the NHS Long Term Plan will get an extra £1000 annually.
