ONEPlanet Studentships at Newcastle University 2024-25

The ONE Planet Doctoral Training Partnership ensures students are trained in key skills for research. Students in the training partnership will develop their skills, expertise, and experience. We encourage innovative ways of working in a supported community of researchers.

Eligibility Criteria:   

• Applicants may come from any nationality.
• Applicants are required to possess a first-class or a 2:1 undergraduate degree.
• Applicants from non-academic backgrounds with research experience in their current or previous employment can apply.
• International applicants must fulfill the language requirements criteria.
• Applicants belonging to the following criteria are given first consideration:
  • UK applicants who are Black, Chinese, Asian, Arabic, or of another non-white ethnicity (see ring-fenced award) 
  • UK graduates from low-income families, and/or are the first generation in their family to go to university 
  • UK applicants who have caring responsibilities 
  • UK applicants who have a disability (physical, neurodiverse, etc.) 

Application Process:

All eligible candidates must apply online to be considered for the scholarship.

Value of the Scholarship:

• 3.5 years of full fees (UK & International)
• An annual tax-free living allowance (£18,622)
• Research Training Support Grant (for travel, consumables, as required - £8,200 per project)
• Cohort-training program 
• Access to additional UKRI-funded activities - Policy placements etc.

Note: Exceptions to the eligibility criteria may be considered, however, they must demonstrate a high level of motivation.
