The University of Malta seeks to attract top-quality students from countries outside the European Union/EEA and is offering tuition fee waivers of 40 to 100 percent awarded to the most deserving students.  

Eligibility Criteria for Master by Research and PhD Positions  

Applicants must:

  • Be non-EU/EEA nationals.
  • Have been unconditionally accepted to read for a Master's by Research or a Ph.D. at the University of Malta (UM).
  • Apply for either a full-time or part-time programme.
  • They have already started their programme of study at UM.
  • Not be applying for a Professional Doctorate.
  • Be prepared to attend an online interview conducted by the UM Postgraduate Scholarships Board.
  • Not receive a full scholarship (i.e., covering both tuition and living costs) from any other sponsor.
  • Disclose if they receive a partial scholarship or maintenance grant covering living costs from another organization.
