• The fellowship of the student must be integrated either within a university or research organization in Germany.
• Candidates applying for Volkswagen 'Freigeist' Fellowships in Germany, in 2022 must have shifted their academic environment and moved to a new location.
• The proposed research projects must include details of a recently completed research sojourn abroad.
• As the review panel is recruited internationally, all the applications must be sent in English.
