Overview
GEI Fellowship is brought forth in collaboration with the Association of Friends of the Georg Eckert Institute. The successful applicants are awarded the fellowship grant for undertaking international textbook research at the institute. The Fellowship spans from 2-4 weeks.
Eligibility:
- The applicant must hold a university degree.
- Candidates involved in the writing of textbooks or employed by textbook publishers are also eligible.
- The applicant's research work must support the Institute's work or projects in international textbook research.
Application Process:
- Applicants must apply by September (current year) to be considered for the following year.
- Applicants must submit the following documents:
- A cover letter
- Curriculum Vitae
- A list of publications.
- A one- to three-page outline of the proposed research topic, describing its aims and methodology.
- A specific list of the programs that the candidate wishes to study at the Institute.
- A work schedule for the desired duration of the stay at the GEI.
Value of the Scholarship:
- The successful candidates are awarded the following benefits:
- A monthly stipend of EUR 800.
- Accommodation in one of the institute's apartments.
- An individual workspace within the library.
- Access to the GEI’s library resources.
- Allocation of a mentor.
Note: The applicants can apply for a travel grant. But the decision is completely dependent on the availability of funds.

- Yes, you can secure an education loan to study abroad at Georg Eckert Institute for International Schoolbook Research (GEI). Education loans are of two types — Collateral and non-collateral. Collateral includes either: Immovable property – a house or a flat or land (or) liquid security – an FD, or LIC or shares or bonds. Agricultural lands are not accepted by any bank for education loan.
