Study Abroad Green Travel Grant 2023/24

The University of Essex is providing a Green Travel Grant to Essex Abroad students traveling abroad for a short period in 2023–2024 for study abroad exchanges or short-term travel. For those students who decide to travel to their European destination by rail, bus, or boat, the Green Travel Grant can be worth up to £100 per student. The Green Travel Grant can help with alternate domestic travel options for those who are not in Europe (e.g. an alternative to domestic flights). All students participating in short-term, year-long, or term-long programs that take place overseas are eligible to apply for this grant.

Eligibility for Study Abroad Green Travel Grant:

• The applicant's destination should be their European exchange program (for students on a year or term abroad) or European short-term program (for those on a summer abroad, between August 1, 2023, and July 15, 2024). The applicant should go there by bus, boat, or rail.
• When traveling outside of Europe for a short-term or exchange program, the candidate must arrange for alternate forms of transportation within the host nation when available (between 1 August 2023 and 15 July 2024).
• The candidate must cover their trip expenses in advance. Any funding for travel must be regarded as reimbursement.
• The candidate has the deadline to submit all supporting documentation. Late entries won't be taken into consideration.

Application Process:

• The applicants should send a copy of their certificate of attendance (summer programs) and their travel receipts to Essex Abroad at eagrants@essex.ac.uk.
• Students studying abroad for a year or term must already have submitted a completed Certificate of Arrival to the Essex Abroad staff.
• The year and term abroad deadline is Monday, January 15, 2024. The short-term program deadline is July 15, 2024.
• Students enrolled in the summer program will receive their results by July 31, 2024.
