The objective of The Henry Oldfield Trust Support Scholarship 2020 is to support and encourage students with financial hardships enrolled to study at the University of Kent.
Eligibility for The Henry Oldfield Trust Support Scholarship 2020:
Eligible programme: Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (BM BS) programme for 4 years.
Undergraduate award conditions include:
- Applicant must have accepted an unconditional offer from the Kent and Medway Medical School
- Orphaned, or estranged from parents
- The student should have been in receipt of, or eligible for, free school meals in Year 11
- Have parents in receipt of pension credit or income support, income-based jobseekers allowance, child tax credit or employment support allowance
- Be in receipt of a 16-19 Bursary
- Be in receipt of a UCAT Bursary
Postgraduate award conditions include
- Have accepted an unconditional or firmly accepted a conditional offer from the Kent and Medway Medical School
- Be in receipt of employment and support allowance or universal credit, AND disability living allowance or personal independence payments, in their own right
- Have a household income below £24,000 per annum
- Having to stop regular employment to take up a place at KMMS, with financial commitments to Student Loan repayments.
Documents Required:
- A 500-word statement titled 'Why I am suitable for The Henry Oldfield Trust Support Scholarship'.
- Written confirmation from the local authority of current/previous looked-after status.
- Written confirmation of benefit award/tax credit notice, in the name of the student (vulnerable or discretionary) or parent (discretionary).
- Letters of support from (at least one of) social worker, teacher, doctor, minister of religion.
- Documents to support financial status; such as SLC statements, 16-19 Bursary, UCAT bursary, benefits statement.
