Overview

Eligibility for individuals who got nominated for the Fraunhofer-Bessel Research Award:

Applicants Must:

  • Be internationally recognized for their work in applied research.
  • Have obtained a Ph.D. no more than 18 years ago (exceptions may be made, such as for career breaks).
  • Have been predominantly living and working outside Germany for at least five years at the time of nomination.
  • Not have received a previous award from the Humboldt Foundation for their academic work.
  • Not be in permanent employment in Germany at the time of selection.

Additional Notes:

  • Female scientists and members of underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
  • Self-nominations are not permitted, nor can close relatives or marital partners nominate each other.

Value of the Fraunhofer-Bessel Research Award:

Successful applicants will get an award amount of €45,000.
