Sports Scholarships

The University of Leeds Sports Scholarships support high-performance athletes in balancing elite sport with their studies.

Eligibility Criteria for the Sports Scholarships:

• The applicants can be both domestic and International students.
• The applicant must have a confirmed offer of admission at the university.
• The applicant must be competing in a BUCS, Olympic, Paralympic, or Commonwealth sport.
• The applicant must be a member of an NGB performance squad or NGB pathway (U21/equivalent).
• The applicant must have achieved senior or age group representative honours at national and/or international level in the last 12 months, and/or current year.
• The applicant must be part of a recognised professional club and/or academy.
• The applicant must be competing at a national level where applicable.
• Priority is given to sports including swimming, diving, rowing, gymnastics, athletics, women’s football, ice hockey, rugby, hockey, and martial arts.

Application Process for the Sports Scholarships:

• Applicants must complete the relevant Sport Scholarship application for September 2026 entry.
• Cricket and Netball athletes use the dedicated application; athletes in other sports use the new-athlete application.
• Selection is competitive and may involve trials for team scholarship programmes.
