Deane Music Scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington
This award was established to support a talented Māori or Pasifika musician during their studies at Te Herenga Waka–Victoria University of Wellington, who otherwise may not be able to attend university due to financial disadvantage.
Eligibility Criteria of Deane Music Scholarship:
Applicants must be of Māori or Pasifika descent, be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, intend to enrol in a full-time undergraduate degree programme at the NZSM in the following year, and be experiencing financial hardship.
Selection Criteria: This scholarship supports Māori and Pasifika school-leavers enrolling in an undergraduate programme at the New Zealand School of Music, Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, who may face financial barriers, with recipients required to maintain a B average GPA to retain the scholarship.
Application Criteria: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Award: NZD 40,000.
Note:
- The scholarship is paid over three years: $10,000 in the first year ($5,000 for accommodation, $5,000 stipend) and $15,000 in the second and third years ($5,000 each for fees, accommodation, and stipend).
- Recipients must write a thank-you letter to the donor and provide a short summary of their progress and achievements at the end of each academic year, following a review with the NZSM.
- Recipients are expected to actively engage with and contribute to the NZSM community, including participation in ensembles, presentations, or performances at NZSM or university events.
