The Curtis-Gordon Research Scholarship in Chemistry, established by Gerry Gordon through the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation, supports chemistry students pursuing research degrees. Inspired by his MSc research under Professor Neil Curtis, Gerry had a successful career in industrial chemistry, and the scholarship continues their shared commitment to advancing the field of chemistry.
Eligibility Criteria of Curtis-Gordon Research Scholarships in Chemistry:
Applicants must be currently enrolled in Chemistry in the BSc (Hons), MSc, or PhD degrees in the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences at Te Herenga Waka–Victoria University of Wellington.
Selection Criteria:
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in Chemistry within the BSc (Hons), MSc, or PhD programs in the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
- Selection is based on the candidate’s ability to successfully complete their degree, with consideration given to personal circumstances and preference for those who completed most of their undergraduate Chemistry studies at Te Herenga Waka.
- The scholarship value is determined by the Selection Committee, taking into account the applicant’s academic record and financial need.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Award: Between NZD 1,000 - NZD 7,000.

- Recipients must write a letter of thanks to the family of the donor of this scholarship within one month of receiving the scholarship.
- The Scholarship cannot be deferred to a later year.
