Eligibility Criteria for UQ PhD Industry Placement Award:

Applicants must:

Be a PhD candidate at University of Queensland.
Be either:
- Receiving no living stipend, or
- Receiving a stipend managed by an external sponsor.
Successfully complete a Graduate Research School–approved PhD Industry Placement of at least 60 working days.
Submit a project brief within the first 18 months (FTE) of candidature, including:
- Project outline
- Placement duration
- Host organisation approval
- Supervisor endorsement
Complete the placement at least one month before stipend expiry, including required reports and completion confirmation.

Value of UQ PhD Industry Placement Award:

$9,375 AUD (2026 rate, indexed annually)

Application Process:

Enrol as a PhD candidate at UQ.
Apply for and participate in an approved HDR Industry Placement (minimum 60 working days).
Submit a project brief within the first 18 months FTE with required approvals.
Complete the placement and submit completion reports.
