The Downey Prize at University College Cork 2026

Introduction:

The Downey Prize is an annual academic prize at University College Cork (UCC) established in memory of Mr. Joseph Downey, who served as secretary and bursar of UCC from 1912 to 1944. The prize is awarded based on outstanding performance in the Summer BComm (Hons) degree examination.

Eligibility criteria for the Downey Prize at University College Cork:

• The applicants must be current University College Cork (UCC) students.
• The applicants must be taking the Summer BComm (Hons) degree examination.
• The academic council must determine that a sufficiently high standard has been attained.
• The scholarship is open to all nationals; there is no national restriction.

Application Process:

• There is no separate application process. The eligible students are considered automatically.

Value of the Scholarship:

• EUR 750 is awarded to support a full-time student.
