Eligibility Criteria for Nyerere Scholarship at University of Edinburgh 2026:
Applicants must:
- Be a Tanzanian citizen domiciled in Tanzania.
- Be currently studying at or a graduate (within the last 4 years) of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM).
- Be accepted onto the full-time MSc Africa and International Development programme at the University of Edinburgh for the 2026/27 academic year.
- Demonstrate academic excellence, equivalent to a UK first-class or 2.1 Honours degree at undergraduate level in a Humanities or Social Science subject.
- Not hold any other scholarship funding concurrently.
Value of Nyerere Scholarship at University of Edinburgh 2026:
- Covers tuition fees for the MSc programme
- Annual stipend at the UKRI rate (£20,780 for 2025/26), paid in monthly installments, first three months in advance
- Cannot be combined with other scholarships
- Does not cover airfare or visa costs
Application Process:
- Apply first to the MSc Africa and International Development program.
- Upon receipt of MSc application confirmation, email PGApplicationFee.sps@ed.ac.uk to inform of Nyerere Scholarship application.
- Submit the scholarship application via the MyEd/EUCLID portal.
- Complete all required Personal Statement questions and ensure references are uploaded.
