New Zealand Institute of Economic Research Scholarship in Māori Economics at Victoria University of Wellington
This scholarship is funded by the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research (NZIER) and has been established to support students studying economics who have an interest in the Māori economy or issues affecting Māori.
Eligibility Criteria of New Zealand Institute of Economic Research Scholarship in Māori Economics:
- Applicants must be fully enrolled full-time in a Finance, Economics, Business, or Commerce programme at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington and be in their second, third, or fourth year of study.
- Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
Selection Criteria:
- Preference will be given to the highest performing students in their year for economics and finance courses.
- Applicants must demonstrate an interest in the Māori economy, issues affecting Māori, and a commitment to working in Māori economics in the future.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Award: NZD 7,500.
Note:
- The scholarship will be paid directly to the student as a lump sum, in two annual instalments, or monthly, or credited to cover university tuition, accommodation, and levies.
- Recipients are expected to write a thank-you letter to the donor within one month of receiving the award.
- Recipients may be offered mentorship from NZIER in Wellington (subject to business requirements) and are eligible to hold the scholarship for up to two years, contingent on satisfactory academic progress.
