The scholarship was funded by his former student, retired Navy Capt. Dallas Bethea, who earned his BA in History from San Fernando Valley State College in 1969. 

Eligibility criteria -

  • The applicant must be a History major or a History graduate student
  • They must demonstrate interest in US political, constitutional, or military History. 
  • They must have a strong academic performance and the potential for continued academic growth.
