Malthus Classics Scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington
This scholarship was established to encourage students to continue their studies in Classics.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be full-time students at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, majoring in Classical Studies, Latin, or Greek.
- Applicants must be enrolling in their second or third year of undergraduate study or pursuing an Honours degree in one of these subjects.
Selection Criteria:
- The scholarship is open to full-time students in their second or third year of undergraduate study, or first year of an Honours degree, majoring in Classical Studies, Latin, or Greek at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
- Recipients are selected based on academic merit and passion for the subject, with financial hardship considered as a secondary factor; both domestic and international students are eligible.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4.30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.
Award: Upto NZD 5,000.
Deadline: 1st October, 2025.
Note:
- Students are asked to write a letter of thanks to the donor at the outset of their scholarship, and to share an essay they have produced during the tenure of the scholarship at the end of the year.
- The scholarship is valued at NZD 5,000 and will be paid towards the recipient's tuition fees.
- The Scholarship cannot be deferred to a later year.
- The Scholarship may be held in conjunction with other awards.
