Kate Sheppard Chambers Scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington
This scholarship was established in 2021 by Kate Sheppard Chambers, this scholarship supports students at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington pursuing studies related to women and the law. Funded by members of the women-led barristers’ network, it aims to promote research that advances gender equality and inclusivity within the legal field.
Eligibility Criteria of Kate Sheppard Chambers Scholarship:
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in an Honours or postgraduate programme in Law or the Humanities at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
- Their study or research must focus on topics related to women and the law.
Selection Criteria:
- Applicants must be enrolled in an LLB (Hons) or postgraduate degree in Law or Humanities at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, focusing on a topic related to women and the law.
- Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents, with encouragement given to those from diverse or minority backgrounds.
- Preference will be given to applicants intending to pursue a career in litigation after completing their studies.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Award: NZD 1,500.

- The successful recipient must write a letter of thanks to the donor within one month of receiving the award.
