Kahui Legal Excellence Scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington
The Kahui Legal Excellence Scholarship, funded by Kahui Legal and Taihonoa, supports students in pursuing tertiary qualifications and developing leadership skills. It provides financial assistance for fees or other course-related costs to students who demonstrate academic excellence in their first year.
Eligibility Criteria of Kahui Legal Excellence Scholarship:
- Applicants need to whakapapa as Māori.
- Applicants need to be enrolled as full-time student of Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
Selection Criteria:
- Applicants must be Māori and enrolled full-time at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
- Preference is given to students studying te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, or courses incorporating a mātauranga Māori perspective.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Award: NZD 5,000.
Note:
- The scholarship is valued at $5,000 and will be a contribution to fees or other course related costs. This is a one year tenure and successful students are eligible to reapply.
- The scholarship will be paid in 1 instalment and cease, should a student end full-time study. Scholarship recipients are strongly encouraged to contribute positively to the University marae, by volunteering some time to support the role and function of supporting the Māori community at Te Herenga Waka.
