Equal Access Scholarship (Institution Equity Scholarship) 2026

Overview:

UTS’s Equal Access Scholarship supports students from low socio-economic or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds. It is open to undergraduate, postgraduate, and research students. See the Conditions of Award for full details.
 
Eligibility for Equal Access Scholarship (Institution Equity Scholarship):

Applicants must:

• Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident, permanent humanitarian visa holder, or Temporary Protection Visa holder¹.
• Be offered or admitted to a UTS undergraduate, postgraduate coursework, postgraduate research degree, or the Jumbunna UNISTART program in the award session.
• Demonstrate financial disadvantage by:
  • Receiving a means-tested Commonwealth income support payment (e.g., Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY, Parenting Payment, Disability Support Pension, Carer’s Allowance), or
  • Providing evidence of exceptional financial hardship.

Selection process:

Scholarships are awarded on a relative needs basis, prioritising applicants who demonstrate financial hardship plus one or more educational disadvantages, including:

• Regional or remote background
• Sole parent responsibilities
• Carer responsibilities
• Long-term medical condition, disability, or ongoing effects of abuse
• Indigenous Australian status
• Refugee status

If additional funding is available, scholarships may be awarded to applicants demonstrating financial disadvantage only.
