    Brief Description:

    The Merit Scholarship for Graduate Students was created to benefit the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs students. These merit scholarships are awarded for outstanding academic ability as demonstrated by GPA, an essay, or other achievements.

    Eligibility for the Green School Merit Scholarship for Undergraduate Students:

    • Applicants must be citizens of the United States, U.S. lawful permanent residents, or international students in receipt of the F-1 visa to study in the United States.
    • Candidates should have completed a minimum of 75 undergraduate credits.
    • Students must be in good academic standing (minimum 3.0 GPA).
    • Candidates should not have previously been awarded the Green School’s Merit Scholarship for Undergraduate Students.

    Documents required:

    • Complete an online application on AcademicWorks.
    • Submit a résumé highlighting FIU leadership/involvement, awards/honors, and service experience.
    • Submit either an essay (typed, double-spaced, 12-point font) of no more than 750 words or a 3-minute video describing the reasons that led them to pursue a degree in the Green School, their progress to date, and their professional/academic aspirations.

    Value of the scholarship:

    $1,000 will be spent and distributed as $500 for each of the Fall and Spring semesters of the upcoming school year. The student's ability to maintain eligibility will determine how much money they earn in the spring semester.
