Dr Sheena Hudson PhD Scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington

This scholarship was established in 2017 through a bequest from Dr. Hilda Sheena Hudson, this scholarship supports part-time PhD students at Victoria University of Wellington pursuing research in the Social Sciences or Geography. Eligible fields include Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Social Policy, International Relations, Human Geography/Development Studies, and Psychology.

Eligibility Criteria of Dr Sheena Hudson PhD Scholarship: 

1. Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents enrolled or intending to enrol in a PhD at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
2. Students transferring from other universities are also eligible to apply.

Selection Criteria: The selection of recipients will be based mainly on academic excellence, with consideration also given to financial need.

Application Process: 

1. Applicants must meet the entry requirements for Doctoral study at Victoria University of Wellington and apply through the Doctoral Admission and Scholarship online application, indicating their interest in the Dr Sheena Hudson PhD Scholarship.
2. Applicants may also be asked to provide evidence of financial hardship or supporting documents such as personal statements or references to strengthen their application.

Award: NZD 15,000.

Note:

1. Previous recipients may reapply for the scholarship in subsequent years, with all applications reviewed annually. The award may also be held alongside other scholarships.
2. Recipients are required to submit a thank-you letter to the donor within one month of receiving the award and provide an annual progress report outlining their achievements.
3. Scholarship funds will be disbursed in monthly instalments directly to the student.
