Overview

The NUS Research Scholarship is awarded to exceptional graduate students pursuing research leading to a higher degree at the National University of Singapore (NUS). The scholarship includes a monthly stipend and a subsidy for tuition fees.

Eligibility Criteria for NUS Research Scholarship:

  • Applicants can be of any nationality.
  • Applicants must have graduated with at least Second Class Honours (Upper division) / Honours (Distinction) or equivalent in their undergraduate degree.
  • Applicants must have received an offer of admission or already be admitted to a full-time graduate research program at NUS.
  • Candidates must be eligible for MOE Subsidy.

Application Process:

Interested candidates must submit an online application. The application should include the following components:

  • Copy of Singapore NRIC or citizenship certificate/re-entry permit for Singapore citizens or Singapore PRs
  • Copy of Passport page showing nationality and personal details for International applicants
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's certificate or degree scroll (with English translation if applicable)
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree transcript/result slip (with English translation if applicable)
  • TOEFL/IELTS scoresheet (if any)
  • GRE scoresheet (if any) 
  • Recommendations from two academic referees.
  • Research proposal etc.

The candidates must submit any other supporting documents as and when requested by the university

Value of the NUS Research Scholarship:

Selected candidates are awarded the following benefits:

  • Full tuition fee subsidy,
  • Monthly Stipend (Economics and History)
    • Singapore citizen -                      SGD 3,500 (PhD); SGD 3,500 (Master's) 
    • Singapore permanent resident - SGD 3,100 (PhD); SGD 2,700 (Master's)
    • International student -                SGD 2,700 (PhD); SGD 2,600 (Master's)
  • Monthly Stipend (other FASS departments)
    • Singapore citizen -                      SGD 3,200 (PhD); SGD 3,200 (Master's) 
    • Singapore permanent resident - SGD 2,800 (PhD); SGD 2,400 (Master's)
    • International student -                SGD 2,500 (PhD); SGD 2,300 (Master's)
