Chief Myles Burke - August Cohort at Holland College 2024

Introduction: 

Myles Burke, former Chief of the Cape Breton Regional Police Service, and alumnus of Holland College’s Atlantic Police Academy, passed away suddenly in 2011. To honour his memory, Cape Breton businessman Joseph Shannon established an award in Chief Burke’s name.

Eligibility requirement for Chief Myles Burke - August Cohort at Holland College  :

• Enrolled in the Police Science (Cadet) program.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic (through the required essay and supporting examples).
• Volunteer experience is considered an asset and may strengthen your application, though it is not mandatory.

Value of the scholarship:

A CAD 650 is awarded to support a full-time student

Application Process:

• Complete the scholarship application through your institution's awards/bursaries portal.
• Submit an essay demonstrating your strong work ethic (required supplemental question).
• Answer the volunteer experience question, briefly describing your role and responsibilities if applicable.
• Provide any required financial need information as requested by the scholarship application system.
