Guiyang University (GYU) is located in Longdongbao, Guiyang. In May 2004, GYU was approved by China’s Ministry of Education (MOE) as a university offering bachelor degree. It was formed by merging Guiyang Teacher’s College and Jinzhu University. GYU is supported by both Guizhou provincial and Guiyang municipal governments. In 2010, MOE listed GYU as one of the ten pilot universities to be assessed for the National Teaching Qualification Evaluation for Regular Institutions of Higher Learning. GYU was assessed by the MOE expert team and praised for the achievements.

GYU covers 54 hectares now in the area, and its planned area will reach 80 hectares. There are 167,000 square meters for the teaching and administration, 75,000 square meters as students’ dormitories, 45,900 square meters as an athletic field. Green and flowery plants grow all the seasons on campus to build a scenic university. GYU was awarded “the Beautiful Campus of Guizhou Province” and “the Green University of Guizhou Province”.
