Eligibility Criteria for David L. Boren Scholarships for Undergraduate 2026:

Applicants must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen at the time of the application deadline.
  • Be at least 18 years old by the application submission.
  • Be a matriculated undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university and remain enrolled for the duration of the study abroad program.
  • Plan to study abroad in a country that is outside Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
  • Select a study abroad program that includes a focus on critical languages and cultures and aligns with U.S. national security interests.
  • Study a foreign language as a core part of the program.

Value of David L. Boren Scholarships for Undergraduate 2026:

Maximum Award Amounts:

  • 8-11 weeks: $8,000 for a summer program (STEM majors only)
  • 12-24 weeks: $12,500
  • 25-52 weeks: $25,000
