- Be accepted onto a PGDE programme.
- Intend to teach or develop the teaching of mathematics or science-based subjects (including Design and Technology) in Scottish secondary schools, or undertake research contributing to effective teaching in these areas.
- Demonstrate academic merit and a genuine interest and commitment to teaching or developing mathematics and science education in Scottish secondary schools.
- Consideration will also be given to personal circumstances and achievements, academically or personally.
Value of the Tom and Maureen Fairlie Scholarship at University of Edinburgh 2025:
This scholarship awards £1,500 which is paid at the start of the academic session towards maintenance costs and is tenable for the duration of the PGDE programme, subject to satisfactory academic progress.
