The Lydia Wevers Scholarship, established by her family and friends in association with the Stout Research Centre, supports Master’s research into New Zealand’s history, cultures, and society. Lydia Wevers was a renowned literary historian and director of the Stout Research Centre, credited with making it a hub for New Zealand-focused research. The scholarship helps cover costs for research on any topic related to New Zealand/Aotearoa.
Eligibility Criteria of The Lydia Wevers Scholarship in New Zealand Studies:
- The scholarship is awarded annually to full-time or part-time Master’s by thesis students researching any topic related to New Zealand/Aotearoa, including those transferring from other universities.
- It is open to domestic students who are New Zealand citizens or residents.
Selection Criteria:
- Award decisions are primarily based on academic merit and the University’s ability to supervise the proposed research.
- Financial need may be considered when applicants are otherwise equally qualified.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Award: NZD 15,000.
Note:
- The recipient must write a thank-you letter to the donors; NZD 15,000 will cover domestic fees, with any remaining funds paid as a lump sum.
