The NL Scholarship is a scholarship for excellent students from non-EU/EEA countries, applying for a Master's programme at the University of Twente.
Eligibility criteria -
- The programme starts in academic year 2026/2027, and the applicant has (provisional) admission to an eligible University of Twente programme.
- Applicant is a non-EU/EEA student, has not previously completed a full degree in the Netherlands, and is not eligible for the statutory tuition fee or a Dutch study grant.
- Applicant is an excellent student, with a CGPA ≥ 7.5/10, placing them in the top 5–10% of their graduating class.
- Applicant meets English language requirements (IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with 6.0 in speaking / TOEFL iBT 90 with 20 in speaking).
- Applicant meets Dutch entry visa requirements and understands that the NL Scholarship will be cancelled if they later become eligible for the statutory tuition fee.
Application process -
- You have to apply for a Master's programme first. Once you have applied for a Master's programme, you can apply here with your student number.
Value - € 5,000 only for the first year of your studies.
Deadline -
Round 1: Applications open on 15 October 2025 (12:00 CET) and close on 1 February 2026 (16:00 CET), with results announced in the first week of March 2026.
Round 2: Applications open on 1 February 2026 (16:00 CET) and close on 1 May 2026 (16:00 CEST), with results announced in the first week of June 2026. Applicants rejected in Round 1 cannot apply in Round 2.
Please note: This scholarship is meant as compensation for study-related costs. It is up to the scholarship student to decide how to spend the money. No costs (e.g. tuition fees) will be paid on your behalf.
