Advancing Robotics and AI in Red Meat Processing Tasks - MRES Scholarship at University of Southern Queensland 2025-26
This scholarship supports research using sensing technologies and machine learning to automate red meat cutting tasks, including robotic arm programming and lab-based experiments, with site visits to abattoirs. Funded through the Food and Beverage Accelerator Trailblazer (FaBA), it also provides access to FaBA training opportunities.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The applicant has completed either a 3-year degree in a relevant discipline at an Australian university or equivalent, or a 3-year degree plus a coursework master’s, with a GPA of 5.0/7.0 or above (or equivalent).
- The applicant is not receiving equivalent support providing a benefit greater than 75% of the student’s stipend rate and is eligible to commence a Master by Research program in early 2025.
Selection Criteria: The applicant has studied in robotics-related fields (e.g., mechatronics, electrical/electronics engineering, or computer science with a focus on robotics and AI), possesses understanding of programming languages (e.g., MATLAB) with a willingness to learn new ones, has foundational knowledge of data processing and analysis, and ideally has experience in developing robotics or automation-based systems.
Application Process:
- The applicant must provide digital copies of a curriculum vitae (including research presentations/publications), a Preliminary Research Thesis Topic Proposal (completed with Dr Basem Aly, Basem.Aly@unisq.edu.au), education qualifications (testamur and transcripts), and a Supervisor support letter.
- The applicant must submit their application via the UniSQ Scholarship Application Management System by the closing date.
Award: Stipend of AUD 37,000.
Deadline: 15 February 2025.
Note: Maximum period of tenure of an award is 2 years full-time.
