Eligibility for Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships in the Humanities:
Applicants must:
- Be UK or International (including EU) applicants
- Commence campus-based doctoral (PhD) study at the University of Nottingham in the 2026/27 academic year
- Intend to undertake PhD research in history, literature, or languages (broadly defined)
- Be resident in the UK for the duration of their studies and live within a reasonable distance of the University of Nottingham (except during fieldwork periods)
- Have a strong track record of academic excellence, normally demonstrated by:
- A good undergraduate degree, usually a first-class honours BA, and
- Either:
- A Master’s degree relevant to the proposed doctoral research (completed or to be completed before PhD start), or
- Professional qualifications and experience equivalent to a Master’s degree
Value of Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships in the Humanities:
Each scholarship provides a fixed total value of £111,750, covering:
- Tuition fees (Home/UK level; for International recipients, the Faculty covers the difference between Home and International fees).
- Maintenance grant (stipend): £27,500 per year (tax-free, paid monthly; pro rata for part-time study).
- Research and training allowance.
