About this scholarship:

Established by the EAIT Faculty with the support of Professor Simon Biggs, Executive Dean in 2015. It is also supported by the School’s alumni and friends, this Fund will be used to award and distribute up to five small grants of $1,000 each, twice per calendar year to support aspiring female engineering, design and technology students to make a global impact.

Eligibility for UQ Women in Action Fund: 

  • Applicant must be a domestic student and be enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology.
  • Should have maintained satisfactory academic progress.
  • Candidate must be intend to engage in community and industry-based experiences via study tours, student exchange, and short-term professional and personal development experiences, for example:
    • Attendance at interstate or international conferences
    • Registered elite athletes attending a significant overseas athletic event that will help advance their athletic career
    • HDR students undertaking an overseas internship that furthers their research project
    • Attendance at 'iconic' activities (e.g. international mining games)

Documents required:

  • Details of your chosen activity (this must take place the same semester or half calendar year that the application is lodged).
  • A copy of your recent studies reports from mySI-net.
  • A short-answer written submission (300-350 words) outlining how the activity will benefit your personal and professional development.

Selection criteria:

The candidate's initiative is demonstrated through your application.
