The William R McFarlane Scholarship at The University of Edinburgh 2026

The University of Edinburgh's Migration and Diaspora Hub is offering William R. McFarlane Scholarships from candidates accepted into a PhD program in the School of History, Classics, and Archaeology commencing in the academic year 2026-27.

Eligibility for The William R McFarlane PhD Scholarship:

• Applicants must have been accepted into a PhD program at the University's School of History, Classics, and Archeology.
• The research interest must be in the field of the history of Scottish migration or related diaspora themes.
• Applicants must hold a UK 2.1 or first-class honors undergraduate degree (or overseas equivalent) in a relevant field.
• Applicants must demonstrate excellence in academic performance in a postgraduate master’s degree in a relevant field, or be on course to do so.

Value of the Scholarship:

The successful applicants of The William R. McFarlane PhD Scholarship will receive:

• Tuition fee waiver.
• An annual stipend(£20,780).
