The Sparrow Scholarship in Memory of Ted Luttrell 2023

Overview:

The sparrow will fly with the grace of an angel/ world and world will collide/ both are willing and able. – last lyrics written by Ted Luttrell This scholarship was created by the family and friends of Ted Luttrell. Ted was a student at Shoreline Community College until his death from an aneurysm at age 20. A gifted bassist and lyricist, Ted had a passion for music and hoped to complete the audio recording program at Shoreline Community College despite scholastic and medical challenges. This scholarship is intended to support students who share Ted’s gift and passion for music and who also face emotional, learning, and/or medical challenges that make attaining their dream more difficult. In the words of his family, Ted was a star in life and we know those who apply for this scholarship are also, in their own unique ways, stars that may need a helping hand in order to shine their gifts upon the world.

Eligibility criteria:

• Applicants must have applied to Shoreline Community College and be seeking a degree or certificate in the SCC Music Technology Program.
• Candidate must be a Washington state resident (as defined by the College).
• Students must have and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Benefits:

1. $600 towards tuition, books, and required course materials.
2. $400 towards payment of a private music technology tutor, if needed.
