The Michael Taylor Memorial Award at Victoria University of Wellington
The Michael Taylor Memorial Award, established by the Tararua Tramping Club in memory of its former president and life member, supports postgraduate (Master’s or PhD) students at Victoria University of Wellington. It assists with research costs for conservation fieldwork focused on the Wellington region.
Eligibility Criteria of The Michael Taylor Memorial Award:
- Applicants must be enrolled or intending to enrol full-time or part-time in a Master’s or PhD programme, with research focused on conservation, biodiversity, or restoration ecology.
- The research project must take place in and focus on the Wellington region.
Selection Criteria:
- Preference will be given to students originally from Wellington and those already enrolled or with confirmed enrolment for the awarding year.
- Selection will be based on the merit of the applicant’s research project and overall application.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Award: NZD 3,000.
Note:
- The recipient will receive a one-year membership to the Tararua Tramping Club and is expected to act as an ambassador for the Centre for Biodiversity and Restoration Ecology, participating in related events if requested.
- Recipients must provide a written report and thank-you letter to the Tararua Tramping Club and present a summary of their research at a club meeting during their award year.
