    The Lee Family Scholarships at Imperial College London

    The Lee Family Scholarships at Imperial College London are fully funded awards that support outstanding PhD students who are ordinarily resident in mainland China or Hong Kong and have been classified as Overseas for fee status. 

    Eligibility Criteria of The Lee Family Scholarships:

    1. The applicant must ordinarily reside in mainland China or Hong Kong (excluding Taiwan), be assessed as Overseas for fee status, and submit a PhD application to the Faculty of Engineering, Medicine, Natural Sciences, or (for eligible MRes students only) the Business School, holding a formal offer before the department submits the nomination form. They must also be a new PhD applicant with a start date between 1 August and 1 November 2026.
    2. The applicant must additionally meet the English language requirement of their offer by 30 June 2026.

    Application Process: 

    1. The applicant must contact departments and potential supervisors well before the 12 January 2026 PhD application deadline (noting some departments may have earlier internal deadlines), submit a complete PhD admissions application by this date, and hold a formal offer by the time the department submits the scholarship nomination.
    2. The applicant will be considered through departmental nomination based on academic merit and potential, with departments submitting nominations by 9 February 2026, after which Imperial’s Selection Panel will review all nominations and notify candidates of the outcome by 31 March 2026.

    Award: Full tuition fees, GBP 26,500 stipend & a consumables budget per annum, for 3.5 years.

    Note:

    1. The scholarship provides full tuition coverage, an annual stipend of GBP 26,500, and a consumables budget of GBP 2,000 for the first three years and GBP 1,000 for the final year, for a duration of up to 3.5 years.
    2. Applicants must also confirm that they do not intend to remain in the UK to exercise the skills gained from the PhD upon completion of their studies.
