- Applicants must identify as Aboriginal, First Nations, Metis, or Inuit.
- Applicants must have an 80% average in English Studies 12 and three other academic Grade 12 courses, or a 3.67 transfer GPA based on at least 24 transferable university credits.
- Applicants must demonstrate leadership, community involvement, and volunteerism.
- Applicants must maintain 12 undergraduate credits per semester.
- Applicants must maintain a minimum 3.0 CGPA to continue receiving the award.
