The Edward Gurr Prize at University College Cork 2026

Introduction:

The Edward Gurr Prize was established through a donation by Dr. Edward Gurr, an Honorary Research Associate in the Department of Anatomy at University College Cork.

Eligibility criteria for the Edward Gurr Prize at University College Cork:

• For medical students:
  • The applicants must be a first-year medical student and must rank among the top 10% of the class in the anatomy.
  • The applicants must have a histology notebook of a sufficiently high standard, as assessed by the Professor of Anatomy.
• For dental students:
  • The applicants must be a second-year dental student and must have achieved the highest aggregate marks in the oral histology component.
  • The applicants must achieve a sufficiently high standard in the Oral Histology Spot Examination, as assessed by the Professor of Anatomy.

Application Process:

• No separate application is required. Eligible students are selected based on their academic performance and assessment results in histology.

Value of the Scholarship:

• An EUR 800 is awarded to support a full-time student.
