Quantum and Advanced Technologies PhD Scholarship at University of Southern Queensland
This scholarship at the University of Southern Queensland supports PhD research in quantum and advanced technologies, aiming to develop early-career researchers and increase representation of underrepresented groups. Funded by the Queensland Government, it offers projects in quantum sensing, cryogenics, semiconductors, space research, and quantum computing, with opportunities to build technology skills, foster industry collaboration, and enhance commercialisation capabilities.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Have completed an Honours Degree with First Class or 2A Honours, or equivalent level, or a Master’s degree with a significant research component.
- Be accepted into, or currently enrolled in, the PhD program at UniSQ and not be receiving equivalent support providing a benefit greater than 75% of the student’s stipend rate.
- Be eligible to commence or continue PhD studies in 2025 and be able to study on campus at Toowoomba, Ipswich, or Springfield.
Selection Criteria:
- Have completed an Honours Degree with First Class or 2A Honours, or equivalent level, or a Master’s degree with a significant research component, in Physics, Engineering, or a discipline closely related to one of the stated PhD topics.
- Be able to study full-time on-campus at Springfield, Toowoomba, or Ipswich.
- Conduct research relevant to the program focus on quantum and advanced technology, and aligned with at least one of the stated PhD project topics.
Application Process:
- To apply, applicants must have digital copies of the following: Curriculum vitae, including any research presentations and/or publications, Preliminary Research Thesis Topic Proposal, Education qualifications (testamur and academic transcripts for all undergraduate and postgraduate awards) and Supervisor support letter completed by their current or prospective supervisor.
- Applications must be submitted via the UniSQ Scholarship Application Management System by the closing date.
Award: AUD 45,000 p.a. (AUD 180,000 over four years).
Deadline: 30 April 2025.
Note:
- Translation & development allowance: AUD 5,000 p.a. (max AUD 15,000) for research, training, and career development
Travel allowance: AUD 5,000 for conferences or industry/research visits (airfare & accommodation).
Total maximum award value: AUD 200,000. - Periods of study already undertaken towards the degree will be deducted from the period of tenure.
