Mana Pasifika Scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington
The Mana Pasifika Scholarships offer financial support for accommodation, fees, and/or a stipend ranging from $5,000 to $30,000 over one to three years. They recognise Pasifika students with Merit-level achievement in NCEA or equivalent, who show strong community engagement, leadership, and talent in arts, sports, or cultural activities.
Eligibility Criteria of Mana Pasifika Scholarship:
- Applicants must be of Pasifika descent and hold New Zealand or Australian citizenship/residency, or be international students who have completed at least two years of study at a New Zealand secondary school.
- Applicants are expected to have NCEA Level 2 endorsed with Merit (or equivalent) and intend to enrol full-time in their first undergraduate degree at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
- Applicants must be in Year 13 or have completed Year 13 in the previous year and may be taking a gap year at the time of application.
Selection Criteria: Scholarships will be awarded based on academic achievement as well as the areas of culture, community involvement, leadership or sport.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Award: Upto NZD 30,000 over three years.
Note:
- Continuation of the scholarship for years two and three requires full-time enrolment, good academic progress, and engagement with the Pasifika Student Success team.
- Scholarship funds can be applied to accommodation in University halls, paid in two instalments in February and July.
- Alternatively, funds can be credited to tuition fees, or, if eligible for Fees Free, paid as a stipend towards living costs in two instalments per trimester.
- Stipend payments must be used for study-related costs, such as accommodation, books, travel, or living expenses; full accommodation costs exclude the initial deposit and hall fees.
