Kuching Malaysian Alumni Scholarship (International Application Round)

The Kuching Malaysian Alumni Scholarship (International Application Round) was established in 2016 and is supported by the Kuching UC Alumni Chapter. It supports top students from the Kuching Division, Sarawak, Malaysia who are studying in an undergraduate degree programme at the University of Canterbury.

Eligibility criteria for the Kuching Malaysian Alumni Scholarship (International Application Round):

• Applicants must be citizens of Malaysia.
• Applicants must not also be citizens of New Zealand or Australia.
• Applicants must not hold a New Zealand residence class visa or be an Australian Permanent Resident.
• Applicants must have been born in Kuching Division, Sarawak, Malaysia, and/or have attended a primary or secondary school in Kuching Division for at least five years.
• Applicants must have completed or be completing a university entrance qualification.
• Applicants must apply for admission at the university by October 31, 2026, if they are not already continuing students.
• Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree programme during the scholarship tenure.
• Applicants must demonstrate leadership potential, including participation in cultural, sporting, and/or community activities.
• Financial need may be considered when candidates are of equal merit.

Application process for the Kuching Malaysian Alumni Scholarship (International Application Round):

• Applicants are selected based on academic achievement.
• Applicants must provide evidence that they meet the Kuching Division eligibility requirement through their birthplace and/or school attendance.
• Applicants must provide evidence of academic achievement.
