Eligibility Criteria for Charles E. Bull Creative Writing Awards at Northern Arizona University 2025:

Applicants must:

• Be a declared BA in English or BS in English Education major (e.g., BS in Ed. Secondary Education: English) or a graduate student in one of the English Department’s four graduate programs (MA, MA-TESL, MFA, PhD) at Northern Arizona University (NAU)
• Be enrolled in courses during the academic year in which the award will be disbursed
• By the deadline:
  • Be at least sophomore status if an undergraduate
  • Have completed a minimum of 6 credit hours in NAU English courses beyond composition (undergraduate)
  • Or have completed 9 credit hours at NAU (graduate students)

Value of Charles E. Bull Creative Writing Awards at Northern Arizona University 2025:

The scholarship amount will be awarded to eligible students (specific prize value may vary).

Application Process:

• Submit either a short story or a poem
• Submissions must follow these guidelines:
  • Do NOT include your name on the story or poem (blind reading process)
  • Prose submissions must be double-spaced
  • Include the required cover sheet with your submission
  • Originals will not be returned
• Submit according to the instructions provided by the College of Arts and Letters or the NAU English Department
