Blanche and Lorne Harper Memorial Entrance Award at Holland College 2026

Introduction: 

The Blanche and Lorne Harper Memorial Entrance Award was established in memory of Blanche Harper and her son Lorne Harper to support mature students entering Holland College. The award recognizes PEI residents returning to education after a significant break and aims to assist those demonstrating financial need and strong personal and community values.

Eligibility requirement for Blanche and Lorne Harper Memorial Entrance Award at Holland College:

• Must be a resident of Prince Edward Island (PEI).
• Must be entering first year of studies in a Holland College program.
• Must demonstrate financial need.
• Must be a custodial caregiver of one or more dependent children.
• Must have had a minimum three-year break in education.
• Must demonstrate the following through an essay and references:
  • Career goals
  • Self-motivation and well-roundedness
  • Teamwork abilities
  • Positive role model within the community
  • Interpersonal and intrapersonal skills
  • Positive professional attitude
• Must provide two reference letters from non-relatives.

Value of the scholarship:

A CAD 1,000 is awarded to support a full-time student

Application Process:

• Submit the award application before the deadline.
• Provide a written essay describing suitability for the plumbing/pipefitting trades.
• Include details of any experience using hand tools.
• Demonstrate interest and commitment to the trade.
• Applications are reviewed based on eligibility and essay content.
