Avant Foundation Bursary in Medicine at the University of Western Australia 2026

Introduction: 

The Avant Foundation Bursary in Medicine is funded by the Avant Foundation and administered by The University of Western Australia. The bursary aims to improve equity in medical education by supporting a disadvantaged student throughout the four years of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.

Eligibility requirements for the Avant Foundation Bursary in Medicine at the University of Western Australia:

• Applicants must be Australian citizens.
• Be enrolled, or eligible to enroll, full-time and have received an offer for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program.
• Be experiencing financial hardship or educational disadvantage arising from one or more of the following circumstances:
  • Indigenous Australian background, Regional or rural residency; Living in a low socio-economic area; Member of the LGBTIQ+ community; Culturally or linguistically diverse background

Value of the scholarship:

A full-time student will be awarded AUD 40,000.
