Armed Forces Bereavement Scholarship at the University of Kent

The Scheme will contribute towards the cost of a first undergraduate programme at a publicly-funded UK higher education institution.

Eligibility Criteria of Armed Forces Bereavement Scholarship: 

1. Your parent must have died as a result of their service in the armed forces on or after 1 January 1990.
2. You must be 16 or older and enrolled in full-time further or higher education.
3. You or your surviving parent must be receiving bereavement benefits from the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme, War Pension Scheme, or Armed Forces Attributable Benefits Scheme.

Selection Criteria: The selection criteria are based entirely on meeting the eligibility conditions. There is no competitive selection process; any applicant who meets the criteria is entitled to the scholarship. 

Application Process: 

1. Applications must be submitted online each year using the official AFBSS form on the UK government website.
2. The grant must be renewed annually, with a new application required for each year of study.

Note: The scholarship amount varies and is disbursed to students in three annual installments — on October 31, January 31, and April 30.
